Established in 1996 as Osni Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. by Mr. Nihal Hettiarachchi and Dr. Sahida Hettiarachchi, as a Board of Investment (BOI) approved Joint Venture with a Japanese corporation. The company’s name was changed to Serendib Green in 2007 after the JV ended in 2005 due to the passing of the Japanese shareholder. Osni Lanka was the largest Coco Peat exporter to Japanese markets. The company has regained its status as the largest exporter to Japan under the Serendib Green name.

The leadership team of Serendib Green now consists of Dr. Sahida Hettiarachchi, who is the current Chairperson since the sudden lost of her husband Mr. Nihal Hettiarachchi in 2014.

The company has its own production facilities operating inside the coconut triangle. The largest facility is located in Kakkapalliya. Company’s administrative office is in Colombo, which handles all production activities as well as all Japanese client relationships. A regional office is located in California, USA for all US and European markets. Serendib Green currently employees 7 managerial and supervisory staff whilst engaging 50 laborers directly and approximately 100 indirectly.
